The support will enable Wetlands International to play a leading role in mobilising and upscaling wetland recovery at scale, so contributing greatly to achieving the 2030 global goals.

Han de Groot explains that COmON as an institutional funder has again been important in supporting organisational development in 2023. “The support from COmON has laid the foundation for our programmatic work. In 2023, this focused on implementing what we have called the Step Change programme and the COmON Beneficiary Grant in several areas, such as the launch of a new global website, deepening working relationships with the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands and the Convention on Biodiversity, participation in globally important international fora and the development of the Natural Sponges programme. We have also managed to strengthen our fundraising strategy and the reach of our donors.
