A leading Aboriginal grower group, developing commercially viable, land-based businesses.

Since 2019, COmON beneficiary, Commonland, has been partnering with the Noongar Land Enterprise Group (NLE) to support NLE's vision to be "the leading Aboriginal organisation, that develops commercially viable Noongar land-based businesses. NLE have identified ‘looking after country’ (environmental management), cultural connectivity and rejuvenation, and wellbeing and healing as interconnected with how the land assets of NLE are managed. While NLE is on a pathway to economic development, it is the environmental, cultural and social aspirations which provide the motivation and inspiration for NLE's business goals.

In support of this approach, COmON contributed to NLE's purchase of a native tree nursery in late 2020. The seedlings from the nursery will provide both an economic pathway for NLE and its members and provide much needed native plant seedlings to rejuvenate and heal Noongar boodja (country).

Sandalwood2
Recently a new sandalwood refinery was opened in Western Australia which is a joint venture between Aboriginal people (Dutjahn Custodians) and the Western Australian Sandalwood company. They will continue to provide training opportunities and inform the sandalwood industry of the potential supply of sandalwood from Noongar managed properties.
