The Charles Darwin Foundation (CDF) opens a new era in science and conservation with its Science Experience Centre on Santa Cruz Island. The centre connects research, education and public engagement, allowing visitors to see and experience how science protects one of the most extraordinary ecosystems on Earth.

“In the Galapagos, every discovery reminds us that humans and nature are part of the same story. The Science Experience Centre is where that story comes to life.”

At its heart are two elements: the Life Science Laboratory, where scientists study the unique biodiversity of the Galapagos, and the completely renewed Exhibition Hall, which transforms research into an immersive experience. Developed with the expertise and creative input of the California Academy of Sciences and Naturalis Biodiversity Centre in the Netherlands, the centre combines scientific depth with an engaging visitor experience.

Visitors explore themes such as evolution, ecology, threats and solutions, discovering how conservation science is shaping the future of the islands. By showing how people and nature can coexist in balance, the Science Experience Centre turns every visitor into an ambassador for the Galapagos, proof that science and stewardship go hand in hand.

COmON Foundation is a proud funder of this initiative, supporting CDF in bringing science, education and conservation together under one roof.
