In 2020, The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Wetlands International, and various partners initiated the Global Mangrove Watch (GMW) platform, generously supported by COmON Foundation and other contributors. Over the past three years, GMW has rapidly evolved into a robust resource, offering vital data, maps, and training accessible to a diverse range of users, spanning local communities, governments, and global decision-makers.
Today, GMW stands as a trusted and indispensable data hub, facilitating worldwide efforts in mangrove conservation and restoration. GMW provides policymakers, mangrove practitioners, and investors with universal access to near real-time information on the location, extent, and status of mangroves across the world, as well as data highlighting why they are valuable.
